The Exam

 

Expect the exam to take about 45 minutes.  It will cover the following areas:

 

A complete health history—This is a very important first step for any new chiropractic patient.  Dr. Ranae will ask about old injuries, chronic problems and current symptoms.  She will also want to know about job duties, previous treatments, dietary habits and your lifestyle. 

 

A complete physical exam which includes a Gonstead Analysis (see “Technique Page” for more information), orthopedic tests and a computer scan.

What to expect on your first visit

We will make every effort to make your first experience at our office very comfortable.  Dr. Ranae and her friendly staff will answer any questions and address any concerns you may have.  We look forward to meeting you, helping you feel better and improve your overall health. 

 

To make our first visit as effective as possible, we encourage you to complete the new patient paperwork listed on the “New Patients” page.  If you have any questions regarding how to answer a question, or what it pertains to, please give us a call at 970-530-0981 and we will assist you.

The purpose for administering the pain free computer scan is to detect and pinpoint abnormal function in the nervous system which cannot be seen on X-rays.  The two standard tests will measure:

 

                          1) SEMG—the amount of electrical current in the muscles

                          2)Thermography—skin temperature along the spine. 

 

Dr. Ranae wants the best results for patients like yourself.  She can easily monitor your changes through periodic progress exams.  It has been proven that a very slight amount of pressure (the weight of a dime!) can disturb the communication of the nervous system whether or not symptoms are present.    With the computer scan, you will be able to actually see the changes and it will be easier to understand the amount and type of care your are receiving.  Because of this technology, Dr. Ranae can provide a “tailor-made” program to meet your specific health needs. 

 

X-rays may be needed in order to thoroughly evaluate your condition.  Dr. Ranae will be able to determine if you have arthritis, disc degeneration, pathologies or conditions that may be contradictory to chiropractic treatment. 

 

After Dr. Ranae reviews all of the information, she will provide you with a detailed report of her findings and determine if your case fits well within the scope of chiropractic.  This is included with your exam fee and is done the following day. 

 

At Access To Health, your treatment program will be specifically designed to your needs and concerns.  Chiropractic adjustments, exercises and therapies will be administered based on your condition.
